Welcome to Morocco! Once you disembark your plane at Fes Sais International Airport, meet your driver for a 30-minute transfer into Fes. Located in the north of Morocco and often referred to as the country’s cultural capital, this walled city is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a medina that has remained almost intact since its creation at the end of the eighth century.
After settling into your riad (traditional courtyard house), descend into the bustling Old Medina of Fes, exploring the labyrinthine streets and markets. End your day watching the sunset from the Marinid Tombs, where you’ll find fantastic views of this dynamic city.
Meet your guide this morning for an immersive, in-depth tour of the UNESCO-listed Old Medina. As the city never experienced much colonial influence, entering the medina feels like stepping back in time. Wander the twisting cobbled streets and stop to peruse the souks (markets) for various spices, leather goods, ceramics, shoes, scarves, medicines, and more.
Visit the famous Chouara Tannery to see colorful leather dyes and traditional techniques from centuries ago. Next, head to the ninth-century Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, the world’s oldest continuously operating university, and stop at Al-Attarine Madrasa, a 14th-century school featuring beautiful architecture and zellij tiles. Then, wander to some of the other sites of Fes, such as the mellah (Jewish district and cemetery) and the Royal Palace of Fes (Dar el Makhzen).
Meet a local family for dinner in the medina to experience Moroccan food at its finest in their home. Witness a tea ceremony and taste the famous mint tea, try a local version of Morocco’s national dish, tajine (braised meat stew), and enjoy that famous Moroccan hospitality and generosity.
Wake up early and meet your driver for the long, eight-hour transfer from Fes to a Bedouin-style tent accommodation in Merzouga. Enjoy the scenery as you twist through the cedar forests of the High Atlas mountains, and keep your eyes peeled for local Barbary monkeys.
Your first stop will be Midelt, “the Apple City,” alongside the River Moulouya. Continue through the Ziz Valley, famous for its hidden oases and palm tree clusters, before reaching the market town of Erfoud, where you’ll catch your first glimpse of the Saharan dunes. Stop to watch an ancient method of water mining, chat with nomadic shepherds, and join a Berber family for a cup of tea.
You’ll soon see the ever-changing sand waves of Erg Chebbi in the distance, an extensive set of dunes covering 14 square miles (35 sq km). Switch from car to camel for a ride through the dunes to your luxury camp in Merzouga. After settling into your tent, grab a sandboard and test your skills on the dunes. Glide down the golden slopes and enjoy the soft, warm sand beneath your feet. In the evening, climb up dunes to watch the colorful display as the sun sets, then head back to camp for dinner around the campfire.
Enjoy a spectacular desert sunrise and breakfast at your camp in Merzouga before hitting the road to Aït Benhaddou, which takes about 5.5 hours. The dunes of the Sahara will slowly give way to the rugged beauty of the scenic Dadès Valley, known for its terraced fields, cliffs, and palm groves.
Your driver will first stop at the Todra Gorge, which is 984 feet (300 m) high and features impressive red-stained limestones. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the gorge or relax in the cool, shallow water. Next you’ll pass through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, also known as the “Valley of the Roses.” The traditional mud kasbahs (fortified citadels encircled by walls and towers) and red rocks stand out against this lush stretch following the Dadès River. Finally, you’ll arrive at the UNESCO-listed Aït Benhaddou.
After you settle in, head out to explore the spectacular Ksar of Aït Benhaddou, which dates back to the 11th century and is one of the most incredible human-made sites in the region. While you walk through the center, explore the ancient alleys and passageways, ducking into shops and grabbing a bite to eat. Then, hike up to the old granary for incredible views. Most other tourists will depart in the afternoon, giving you the place to yourself, which is ideal for exploring at your leisure.
Say farewell to Aït Benhaddou and hop aboard your transfer to Marrakesh, which takes about 3.5 hours. Get ready for a change of scenery as you head up and over the High Atlas mountains. Marvel at Mount Toubkal, which stands at 13,671 feet (4,167 m), and enjoy a panorama of the mountain range at the top of the Tizi n’Tichka Pass as the road snakes down. Continue toward Taddert and stop at an oil cooperative to learn how olives are processed for various uses. Taste some of the olive oil made on-site, and then descend the mountains heading northwest into the plains.
After a scenic and tranquil drive, you’ll reach the vibrant Marrakesh. Settle into your riad and spend the rest of the afternoon as you like. Enjoy a relaxing stroll in the gardens near the picturesque Koutoubia Mosque, then head to the lively Jemaa el-Fna Square. Stick around after sunset to watch it come alive with musicians, snake charmers, and food stalls.
Embark on a half-day tour of Marrakesh, Morocco’s “Red City” (named after the rusty pigment in the walls), with a local expert. Begin in the city’s center at Djemaa el-Fna, Marrakesh’s vibrant central square. Venture into the Old Medina of Marrakesh, with its maze of narrow alleyways lined with traditional riads, souks, and artisan workshops. Your guide will share the history and stories of the medina, the souk, and the mellah sections, all within the city’s rose-pink walls. See the Bahia Palace, a sprawling complex dating to the late 19th century, and explore the ruins of El Badi Palace, built in 1578.
Later in the day, explore the flavors of Marrakesh on a food tour through the city’s medina. Follow your guide on a culinary journey to some of Marrakesh’s beloved local hotspots. Taste various traditional delicacies, ranging from sweets like chebakia (sesame cookies) to msemen (Moroccan pancakes) and pastilla (sweet-and-savory pie). Along the way, learn about the country’s essential ingredients, cooking techniques, and culinary culture.
After your tour, head to the ultimate pampering escape in a hammam (bathhouse). Begin with an ancient Moroccan bathing ritual that combines heat, steam, and meticulous body cleansing. Then, enjoy a relaxing and refreshing massage, a nourishing body mask (made of locally sourced argan oil), and a cup of soothing herbal tea.
It’s time to wave goodbye to the beautiful land of Morocco. If you have time before your flight today, venture into the souks to shop for last-minute spices, slippers, and souvenirs. At the designated time, a private driver will be waiting at your hotel to escort you to the airport, a 20-minute drive from the center. Sit back and relax as you reflect on the past week in Morocco and savor a final view of the city. Safe travels home or to your next destination!

EXCELLENT Based on 22 reviews Ian DNovember 18, 2024Verified Small Group Day Trip to Marrakesh My friends and I are all retired and came to Morocco on a golfing holiday. On the one day we weren’t golfing we wanted to visit Marrakesh and see many of the local sites. I had contacted Rachid before we travelled to Morocco and he had given me a day’s itinerary that looked just what we wanted. There were 7 of us and this was a private tour in an air conditioned Mercedes Minivan with our own English speaking guide (called Hussan). We were collected from our hotel at 9am and first visited the largest mosque in Marrakesh. We then moved to the Bahia Palace, then into The Medina and Souk, where we lunched in an authentic Moroccan restaurant. We saw traditional Moroccan rug making and a local pharmacy/apotheke with many local oils and herbal remedies. We finished our day visiting the botanical gardens that were developed by Yves St Laurent and his partner and lastly the museum of Yves St Laurent. Our guide was warm and friendly and very knowledgeable of Marrakesh and its history (and of Morocco as well). Our driver for the day was also excellent.I would recommend this day trip to any visitors to the Marrakesh area. Marina VMay 13, 2024Verified Morocco Private Tours provided great service from the beginning to the end of our journey. In April 2024, my family and I embarked on a trip to Morocco accompanied by three teenagers. Rashid skillfully organized our entire itinerary, relieving me of any planning responsibilities. He promptly addressed all my concerns and questions with great responsibility. The accommodations selected were superb, and the tour guides in each city were knowledgeable. Abdul, our driver, provided excellent service, remaining by our side throughout the journey and chauffeuring us to dinners and other destinations at our convenience. I highly recommend this company for anyone planning a Moroccan adventure. Yinka AOctober 22, 2023Verified Dune Buggy Tour of the Erg Chebbi Sahara Morocco Private Tour set up this dune buggy tour of the mysterious golden Zerg Chebbi Sahara. We couldn’t have been happier with the experienced dune buggy tour guides selected. They spoke English perfectly and knew every twist and turn of the landscape. They were respectful of our comfort levels and expertly guided us up, over and around dunes giving us breathless thrills and chills. Ours was a 4-hour. Had we known then what we know now, we’d have booked a full day dune buggy tour to watch the sun rise, explore the dunes and the watch the sun set over the Sahara. But this was a magical experience that will be emblazoned in our memories for the rest of our lives! Thank you Rachid et al! RNCPNJune 30, 2023Verified Amazing experience! Amazing experience in Morocco! What a beautiful and welcoming country, rich in history and culture. This company took care of everything and made sure we experienced as much of Morocco as possible! Our driver (Abdul) was like family by the end and he in conjunction with Mr Rachid was available for anything and everything we needed. I highly recommend Morocco Private Tour! Michael CMay 1, 2023Verified Another amazing trip to Morocco. We first came to Morocco in October last year and were looked after by Morocco Private Tour. We had a lot we still wished to see, so returned this April. Due to the excellent level of service we used the same company. We visited Marrakesh, with its amazing market, architecture and hospitality. We also spent some time in the spectacular Dades Valley, before venturing to the Sahara Dessert for a very special night out in a tent in the lee of the sand dunes. We took a camel ride across the sands to watch the sunset. Truly magical and special. The food throughout was excellent, and our thanks to Rashid for organising the tour once more and to wonderful Abdul our driver who looked after us throughout. The most important impression we always take home after our trips is the wonderful kindness, welcome and genuineness of the Mirrocans. SanaeApril 17, 2023Verified A Memorable Family Trip to Morocco We just returned from an 8-night family trip to Morocco and had the most memorable time. Morocco Private Tours was recommended to us by friends from the UK who went a few years back. From my initial email contact to the last day or the trip, Rachid was very responsive and helpful on email and whatsapp. We flew in from London Gatwick to Marrakech where we were met by Abdellah, who drove and looked after us through the entire trip. His expert driving and guiding was invaluable. Our teen-age kids sometimes felt a bit overwhelmed by the bustling streets of a Medina, but were always comforted to be back in the car with Abdellah who would show up exactly at the right time to pick us up.We stayed in Marrakech, Dades Valley, in the Sahara Desert, Fez, Rabat, and finally again in Marrakech. We also stopped at Ait Benhaddou, Quarzazate, Ifrane, Volubilis, Meknes, and Casablanca, and drove on the road of 1000 Kasbahs. All places of stay were beautiful and comfortable; we especially liked Riad Myra in Fez, Dar Riad Rihana in Dades Valley, Royal Luxury Camp, and Riad Melhoun in Marrakech. Everyone was welcoming and hospitable even though we visited during the holy month of Ramadan and the staff were fasting all day. In Dades Valley, the owner prepared a beautiful dinner for all the guests, which was a fusion between Moroccan and European. In the desert camp, we had the place to ourselves. The music at night was spontaneous and enjoyable; the staff kindly let us try the instruments. This was an unforgettable experience.Food was good throughout, some very reasonably priced and some expensive. The restaurants Abdellah took us to were all reasonably priced. The dinner in the first hotel in Marrakech (Movenpick) was an amazingly grand buffet but quite expensive at 450 DH pp and we felt we couldn't eat this much food in one go. I believe they only had the buffet option because it was during Ramadan. Our favourite vote goes to the dinner in Riad Rihana in Dades Valley and the massive Tagine cooked by Faizal in the Royal Luxury Camp. The Berber pizza in Rissani was also lovely. All of these 3 meals were included in the trip.We had a private guide in each city who were all professional and punctual. To highlight some of them, we very much enjoyed walking with Mohammed in Fez. From him, we learned a lot about the Medina, Islam, education, daily lives, Moroccan history and customs. From Rachid in Meknes, we learned more about Islam and the Mosques and how to bargain, and Simo in Rabat about politics, history and economics. We did some shopping in the co-operatives (Berber rugs, Argan Oil and the Rosewater). The shopping experience itself was quite a novelty, but as we're not used to the bargaining we found it tricky. Rachid the guide in Meknes gave us the most guidance about this and the Damasquinurie co-operative was not pushy at all. In hindsight, we should have waited to buy the Berber rugs and not gone to the co-operative in Marrakech at the beginning because the rugs had to come with us through the trip. The Argan Oil and the Rosewater co-operatives were run by women and it was fascinating to learn about the protection of the Berber traditional method of making the products. We always needed to have small bills for tips to the guides, restaurants and porters, but the ATM usually gave us just 100 and 200 MDHs, so it was necessary to purchase small items to break the bills. With Rachid and Abdellah we got to see so many different aspects of Morocco and 8 days were certainly not enough. We met some very kind-hearted people on the trip. Hopefully, we can visit the country again in the future. David DFebruary 19, 2023Verified Very good Super Hospitable, was able to be very agile and make changes on the spot, Rashid is incredibly friendly and professional, knows his work. Morocco a beautiful country with beautiful people. Sophia SJanuary 22, 2023Verified Excellent Experience was excellent. Driver picked us up from the airport and do the airport. Tours were great and private with great guides and drivers. Highly recommend if visiting Morocco. Michael COctober 24, 2022Verified Six days of Wonder in Morocco We got in touch with Morocco Private Tour because we wished for a bespoke and special trip to Morocco. I realised we were onto a good thing from my first contact with Rashid via email. From the planning stage till the end Rashid organised a trip that delighted us. He would attend to every query from us quickly and with great energy and tweaked things around until they were perfect for our needs. Upon arrival in Tangiers we were met by Abdul who would be our driver for the next 6 days. Abdul is kindness personified. Nothing was a problem and he looked after us with great diligence and kindness. During our trip we stayed in beautiful Dars and Riads. I would like to make special mention of Maison de Tangiers, where apart from the grounds, the staff were incredibly welcoming and Dar Jasmine in Chefchaouen where we were greeted like royalty and had wonderful rooms overlooking the stunning blue city. In each town we visited we had our own private guide. They were all punctual and excellently versed in the local history and geography of their areas. An outstanding guide was Mohammed from Fes. Walking the streets with him, with his calming presence and quiet disposition was a real treat. He took us to the restaurant where we had the best meal in the whole trip. The food overall was delicious. We felt safe at all times, and Morocco has become since I last visited 25 years ago, a genuinely welcoming country where the streets were clean, green and safe. A country is not only measured by its history and culture but by its people. You couldn't hope for a friendlier people than Moroccans. It has been a real pleasure to have been introduced to all of this by Rashid and Abdul, and for a few days to have experienced and been part of this wonderful culture. gs202210morOctober 18, 2022Verified Amazing experience Abdoullah has been a wonderful driver while giving us guidance and answers to all of our questions. We had a very short but intense trip booked in a small group from Marrakech To Merzouga to Fez in 2(!) days, and we got lucky because it ended up with just the two of us in the small group. The company really did an amazing job providing us with this experience without holding back. We have enjoyed all of the stops, from Ait Ben Haddou up to Ifran. All of the many faces Morocco has, from snowy mountains in the High Atlas, to dry sand dunes in Erg Chebbi, to pouring rain in Ifran National Park (while still being able to spot Macaques). We owe special thanks and gratefulness to Abdoullah who went above and beyond our expectations, with his deep knowledge on all subjects with regards to Moroccan landscapes, politics and history. His humor, warm friendliness and politeness made this trip unforgettable and a strong recommendation to all.
