Day 1: Fez-Atlas Mountains-Ziz Valley-Merzouga
After the breakfast, we leave Fez and head to the Sahara Desert, passing through Wazzane and Ifrane before reaching the cedar forests of Azrou and its wild monkeys. It will be good opportunity to take photos of the Moroccan wilderness. We continue through the Atlas Mountains and enjoy the landscapes of Medelt, the Ziz Valley, Tafilalat with its 18th century Ksours, and Rissani (Old Sijilmassa), before arriving dunes of the Merzouga desert. After relaxing a few minutes with the nomads, we take the camels through the Sahara sand dunes to your Berber desert camp. At the camp you can enjoy the sunset over the dunes, a plentiful dinner, and Berber songs and drums around a campfire. You will spend the night in luxury nomad tents and enjoy the stars of the desert sky.
Day 2: Sahara Desert
After breakfast, you will explore the desert area and the marvels of the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will have the opportunity to discover the nomadic way of life and the contrasts of the desert. You will visit the black village of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians and see the lake and the oasis. We will go to Rissani for lunch, where you will have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch. We will make a short visit in Rissani (Old Sijilmassa), the first capital of the Alaouite Dynasty. In the afternoon, we return to the Erg Chebbi desert.
Day 3: Sahara Desert to Fez
We wake you up half an hour before sunrise to see magical lights of the sunrise over the dunes. After a shower and breakfast, we ride the camels back to the car and drive back to Fez from Merzouga via Rissani, Erfoud, the Ziz Valley, the Middle Atlas Mountains, and the cedar forests of Azrou, where we stop to hand feed the monkeys. We then continue to Fez via Meknes.
